FACEBOOK IS AT LEAST HELPING US BE SUSTAINABLE IN ONE WAY

One of the biggest sources of waste once you become a parent seems to be the endless list of junk you need to buy, or gets bought, for your little ones.  Clothes, bibs, blankets, furniture, toys and accessories to help you manage the lil monsters add up. Honestly, we’d be broke if it wasn’t for a friend introducing us to a town-resident-only buy/swap group.  Groups like this are becoming more popular and they work well because you have accountability, can see connections between the seller and you, and feel safer overall in the transaction.   Facebook is actually bringing back close local connections that smaller towns once had. Another great aspect is that the people who are selling are your neighbors and want to help each other out, so the prices (at least in my experience) seem much less than I would find on ebay or even craigslist.  So for my wife, the local convenience and safety is a real plus and we’ve been able to buy used, the ultimate REUSE, and save ourselves hundreds of dollars.  So if you’re not a member yet of a town buy/swap/sell group on facebook you should be doing that right…….now.
