Get Angry, Take Action, Make Change

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever has.-Margaret Mead

Do you want your kids to have the best possible future they can have? Get involved and take action!
You can’t be a warrior unless you choose a battle. The array of things that need to be done to preserve our way of life can be overwhelming. While many people rest at clicktivism or slacktivism, parents who want to ENACT REAL CHANGE need to do more. So, below is a starting point to learn about areas of activism: engaging documentaries to absorb a lot of info in a short amount of time, books and podcast suggestions and organizations you can join or support.

Big Oil
The insane amount of plastics in our environment and our bodies is one of the largest causes for concern for your little ones.

BIG MEAT
Our collective process of bringing meat to the table is problematic. Here are articles and organizations that highlight the need for a better system.

BIG FISH
The Netflix documentary Seaspiracy acted as a big wake up call to the thousands who never thought about the fishing industry before. It really highlights how unmitigated fishing practices are having a fast and vast impact on our oceans. These practices are not only depleting fish populations around the world, but their sweeping nets are ruining the delicate ecosystem on the seafloor. Numerous articles have recently been published that point out some of the film’s misrepresentations and false data, such as this vox article, but the fact remains that this film needs to be seen. This industry needs to be held accountable. It’s engaging and informative and will possibly even make a tough dad cry. Watch it and support these organizations below to make the change.

*********** AN IMPORTANT NOTE ON ARTICLES, FILMS AND MORE THAT YOU SEE ***********
The discrepancies from the film Seaspiracy is a perfect example to note that you still have to do some homework. Don’t take one article or group’s opinion on something as the end-all-be-all. Some studies, articles and even films have been subsidized by lobbying groups or industry insiders (in the words of Chris Tucker in Rush Hour II “Follow the rich white man.”) Even well-meaning NGO’s make mistakes. Don’t take everything at face value and be willing to modify your view if new information becomes available.
